Job Overview

The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for protecting an organisation’s computer systems and networks from cyber threats. This role involves monitoring security systems, analysing security breaches, and implementing measures to prevent future attacks. The analyst will work closely with IT teams to enhance the company’s security posture.

Key Responsibilities

1. Security Monitoring and Analysis

– Continuously monitor security alerts and incident reports using security information and event management (SIEM) systems.

– Analyse security breaches to determine their root cause and impact.

2. Incident Response

– Respond to security incidents, including containment, eradication, and recovery efforts.

– Conduct forensic analysis of compromised systems to identify attack vectors and malicious code.

3. Threat Intelligence

– Gather and analyse threat intelligence to stay informed about emerging threats and vulnerabilities.

– Implement measures to mitigate risks based on the latest threat intelligence.

4. Vulnerability Management

– Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests.

– Work with IT teams to remediate identified vulnerabilities and improve security

controls.

5. Security Policies and Procedures

– Develop and update security policies, procedures, and guidelines.

– Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

6. Security Awareness Training

– Conduct security awareness training sessions for employees to promote best practices in

information security.

– Create educational materials and communications to keep employees informed about

security threats.

7. Risk Assessment

– Perform risk assessments to identify potential security issues and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.

– Maintain a risk register and track the implementation of risk mitigation measures.

8. Security Audits and Compliance

– Assist with internal and external security audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

– Implement and monitor compliance with security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR.

9. Technical Documentation

– Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of security incidents, vulnerabilities, and corrective actions.

– Prepare reports for management on the state of the organisation’s security posture.

10. Collaboration and Communication

– Collaborate with IT and other departments to implement security measures.

– Communicate effectively with stakeholders about security incidents and mitigation efforts.

Education

– Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

– Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+) are highly desirable. Experience

– Proven experience (2+ years) in cyber security or a related field.

– Experience with security monitoring tools, SIEM, and incident response. Skills

– Strong knowledge of information security principles, practices, and technologies.

– Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

– Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

– Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Technical Skills

– Proficiency in security tools such as firewalls, antivirus software, intrusion detection/prevention systems

(IDS/IPS).

– Familiarity with programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a plus.

– Knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and database security.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £49,500.00 per year
