The Production Manager will be responsible for establishing and leading the entire coffee
roasting operation at British Version Cafe and Lounge. This includes overseeing the sourcing
of green beans, developing roast profiles, managing roasting schedules, and ensuring
consistency across all batches for both in-house use and future retail/export.
A key responsibility of this role is to tailor coffee roast profiles specifically for customers
from Middle Eastern communities, aligning with our brand’s vision of introducing a British
adaptation of traditional Middle Eastern food and beverage culture. The manager will also
supervise the set-up of a scalable roasting system to supply multiple branches and export
markets.
Additional duties include managing supply chains, enforcing food safety and quality control
protocols, leading training for staff handling roasted coffee products, and supporting brand
consistency as we expand into a chain model.

Team Supervision: Roasting assistants and packaging team
Qualifications and Experience Required
The Production Manager (Coffee Roasting) role is a highly specialised position and requires:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in managing coffee roasting operations,
with a proven track record of developing roast profiles for diverse regional palates —
particularly Middle Eastern markets
- Expertise in green bean evaluation, including quality grading, defect analysis,
moisture content, and origin differentiation
- Strong understanding of the global coffee supply chain, bean pricing, and cost
management from sourcing to packaging
- Experience setting up and operating small-batch and commercial-scale roasting
equipment
- Proficiency in quality control, roasting software (e.g., Cropster, Artisan), and
flavour profiling
- Knowledge of UK food safety, allergen, and packaging regulations
- Ability to train and supervise junior staff and establish scalable systems for multi-
site operations
A formal qualification in food science, production management, or coffee roasting (e.g.,
SCA certification or equivalent) is desirable but not essential if the candidate can demonstrate
the above experience through their work history.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 60 months
Pay: £39,500.00-£55,900.00 per year
