Laboratory Services are currently looking to recruit 2 ambitious and talented individuals to join the Operational Management Team. We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic operational managers with excellent communication and leadership skills.
The successful candidate will be a supportive, empowering and engaging line manager able to lead with care to fully engage the team, praising when deserved, but also able to hold to account where appropriate. You will have a track record of demonstrable leadership, being a role model for high quality values and behaviour, and the proven ability to inspire a shared purpose to develop capability through service improvement and transformational change.
You will be joining us at a time of unprecedented change as we look to revolutionise our Laboratory Services, we are currently engaged in an ambitious transformation programme, including implementation of Digital Pathology and a new LIMS system. This will require you to have experience and knowledge of effective change management tools and techniques.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
The Operations Manager will be responsible for providing strategic and operational support for Laboratory Services across all 4 sites. This will be a demanding role with influence and impact across the sites and will require good stakeholder management skills via clear communications and visible leadership.
The role will require the successful applicant to demonstrate that they have the experience and aptitude to manage a busy portfolio. You will need strong project management skills with good interpersonal skills and be able to work well with clinical and managerial leads, patients and service users.
You will be responsible for promoting the vision and values of University Hospitals Birmingham, leading by example and demonstrating those values in your leadership behaviours The Operations Manager is responsible for delivering the Trust’s Strategy, within their area of responsibility ensuring the standardisation of services across all relevant sites to the best possible level, so that all of our patients experience equally high quality care.

Educated to degree level or equivalent
Experience

Post graduate management experience or equivalent knowledge obtained through a combination of continuous professional development & training courses.
Considerable experience of Knowledge and experience of budgetary management including sound working knowledge of revenue expenditure, budgets, capital including forecasting trends.
Experience of developing service opportunities, through business planning, monitoring, and leading the implementation of successful change management processes
Evidence of delivering excellent standards of patient care
A good understanding of clinical governance, risk management and health and safety principles.
Evidence of success in the management of a multidisciplinary environment
Evidence of significant achievement and personal contribution to organisation success
