Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our databases. You will be involved in the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems, ensuring high availability and optimal performance. This role requires a strong understanding of database management systems and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
Duties
- Administer and maintain database management systems, ensuring high availability and performance tuning.
- Design and implement robust database structures using MySQL and PL/SQL.
- Monitor database performance and conduct regular health checks to identify potential issues.
- Perform backups, recovery, and data restoration processes to safeguard data integrity.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimise database queries and improve application performance.
- Implement security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorised access.
- Conduct regular updates and patches on database servers running on Linux environments.
- Utilise SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for data migration and transformation tasks.
- Document database configurations, procedures, and policies for future reference.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in database administration with a focus on MySQL or similar RDBMS.
- Strong knowledge of PL/SQL programming language for effective database management.
- Experience with high availability solutions and performance tuning techniques.
- Proficiency in Linux operating systems as they relate to database management.
- Familiarity with SSIS for data integration tasks is desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex technical information effectively.
