What is work-life balance?
According to Forbes, Work-life balance is an ever-evolving idea as the workforce keeps changing. Most baby boomers have retired or are on the verge of retirement, making generation Xers fewer.
Millennials account for a sizable share of the workforce. By 2025, the percentage is predicted to reach 75%. Therefore, we must redefine the term “work-life balance.”
According to MBA Skool, Work-life balance is a method which helps employees of an organization to balance their personal and professional lives. Work-life balance encourages employees to divide their time based on priorities and maintain balance by devoting time to family, health, vacations, etc., making a career, business travel, etc.
1. Work smarter, not longer to achieve work-life balance!

Long work hours can contribute significantly to mental illness. According to the Mental Health Foundation, when working long hours, 27% of employees are depressed, 34% are nervous, and 58% are irritated. However, working longer does not imply that we get more done; data suggests that it may reduce our productivity.
Instead of working excessive hours, strive to make the most of your time. Prioritize your chores and give yourself a specific time to complete each one. Stick to your timetable, even if it means you won’t be able to complete every task flawlessly.
Also, several job opportunities or job models encourage the Hybrid and fully remote working model. Flexible working models also help to relieve the stress that travel could contribute to and help increase work-life balance.

2. Don’t be a stickler for perfection!

The temptation to spend extra time perfecting your work might be powerful and can lead to stress at work. If you’re overworked, try to ignore it by telling yourself that what you’ve done is good enough, even if it’s not flawless.
It applies to both your personal and professional lives. For example, don’t be too hard on yourself if the living room is disorganized or you haven’t had time to iron. Instead, give yourself a break — it doesn’t matter if you don’t always complete your tasks.
3. Difference between work and leisure

Work-related stress is compounded by the time we worry about work while not at work. We are making a clear distinction between work and play can assist.
Please list any outstanding duties or things you need to remember at the end of the day, then switch off your computer, close your journal, and leave it. Don’t check your emails outside business hours even if it’s tempting.

Tell the person who asked you to get back to them, and then consider whether you want to do it. Say no and stick to your guns if you want to say no. Be courteous, but avoid apologizing or making excuses. If you’re upfront and definite about how much you’re willing to pay.
5. Create time for the things you love!

Exercise, hobbies, and spending time with friends and family are excellent strategies to relieve stress and prevent mental illness. Make sure you schedule time every day to do something you enjoy. It could be as simple as setting aside 20 minutes before bedtime to read or talk on the phone with a friend – but make these ‘appointments’ as necessary in your schedule as work-related responsibilities.
