Unlocking Success: Ruth's Journey to Becoming a Billing Finance Analyst

We chatted with Ruth, now a Billing Finance Analyst, to tell us more about her journey and transition into tech.

Ruth, who had worked in the banking industry, was looking for her next professional opportunity and wanted to attend a bootcamp.

How did you know about RKY?

Why did you choose to enrol at RKY?

While researching RKY, I communicated directly with the CEO via Instagram. I told her about my banking background and how I was considering enrolling in the UK Compliance course.

She inquired about my current master’s degree programme, which was in data analytics. She went on to push me to enrol in the data analysis bootcamp instead, which would offer me an advantage in the job search.

How will you rate your success rate at RKY?

I will give it a perfect score. The bootcamp was well-organised, with all necessary details and information provided. The facilitator took considerable care to ensure that each lesson was understood. The projects and interview preparation sessions were pervasive, and nothing was overlooked. Overall, it was enlightening.

Can you describe how the 12 weeks of training went?

The training started with a positive tone. As the weeks went on, it became more intense in a positive way. First, the virtual classes were educational and practical, as I had to simultaneously apply what the facilitator was teaching. As a result, it required a great deal of focus and dedication. Throughout the week, I also got the opportunity to ask questions, which significantly aided my learning process.

Also, the tasks I was assigned were thorough and based on real-life situation data, which assisted my thinking and problem-solving methods. We had interview preparation sessions near the end of the bootcamp. The session was a path to securing my role as a billing finance analyst.

How did you secure a role as a Billing Finance Analyst?

RKY helps with CV and LinkedIn optimisation; this also comes as a package once you pay for any bootcamp. My CV was optimised to show that I had the knowledge and skills to be a data analyst. With my newly optimised CV, I began applying for different company roles.

After each application, I kept getting rejections upon rejections, but I was not bothered because I knew I did not lack anything thanks to RKY. I continued applying to different places until a world-renowned financial company called me for an interview.

My advantage was knowing how to answer well during the interview because I was so confident, thanks to RKY. Not long after the recruiter reached out, I learned I had gotten the role of billing finance analyst.

What would you advise anyone looking to transition?

Transitioning isn’t easy. The first big step is to look for a career institution to help you. I recommend RKY because they provide everything you need for that tech skill. I am living proof of this, and it eventually paid off. Never procrastinate; go for what you want. Failure can’t be what’s stopping you from taking that step. The adage says, “Look before you leap.” But I say, “Leap before you look.”
