In this week’s interview, we dive into how Stephanie secured a role as a Compliance Monitoring Analyst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stephanie takes us through the intricate steps she took to secure this role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Securing this role came with diligence and persistence, and she did not allow the word “rejection” to bring her down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had a chat with Stephanie about how she was able to overcome the job obstacles she faced in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you speak a little bit about your background? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Based on my background experience, I am a lawyer, and coming to the UK, I struggled to secure a role as one. I kept hitting stumbling blocks at all corners, wondering what was wrong. And then I knew I had to get help with my career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did you come about RKY Careers?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While trying to research more on what to do to secure a role in the law field, I came across RKY Careers on Instagram<\/a>. Through the page, I learned what they are and the fantastic success stories of how people secured jobs after transitioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I decided to take that step and send a direct message to a representative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did you transition from Law to Compliance?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When I contacted RKY and spoke about what I had been going through regarding my job search, she asked me if I was UK-qualified, as this is a significant hindrance in securing a job as a lawyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During our conversation, she mentioned the Compliance Bootcamp and discussed how my background could offer advantages. Additionally, she pointed out the benefits of my current position as a customer representative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We delved into potential roles I could secure, including Compliance Monitoring Analyst, KYC Analyst, and AML Analyst. I went ahead and enrolled for the bootcamp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How was the bootcamp experience?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In just four weeks, I acquired all the necessary skills and knowledge despite the short time packed with extensive learning. The facilitator enhanced our understanding of UK compliance laws, regulations, and company policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, he introduced critical criminal finance legislation to aid in recognizing, assessing, and managing anti-money laundering within any business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I tackled real-life cases throughout the project, conducting risk ratings and enhanced due diligence onboarding for actual entities. This hands-on experience proved invaluable, preparing me to excel in interviews and perform effectively in real-world job situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the conclusion of the training, I grasped the subtleties of the regulatory environment and its impact on an organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did you secure a role as a Compliance Monitoring Analyst?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After four weeks of training and one week for an interview preparation session, I got my RKY-optimised CV and LinkedIn and started applying for jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I kept getting rejections upon rejections. But this time, this did not deter me because I was confident with my acquired skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After multiple rejections, I secured an interview for a Compliance Monitoring Analyst role. This interview was intense and vigorous, but I could scale through thanks to the interview preparation sessions at RKY.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you had the chance to make your decision again, would you still follow this path?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I would not change my decision. The same choices I made then will be the same now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This decision helped me secure the role I\u2019m currently in. And I would say this is the best decision I made this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My advice for anyone who wants to transition is to take that decision and seek one when convinced you need that help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
